Remediation of the Crowdstrike Windows "blue screen" issue unfortunately
cannot be fully automated and requires a few manual processes.. We
essentially need your help given the number of Windows machines impacted by
this event.

Here is the procedure to get your Windows system ready for the repair.

   - *Restart your computer*: If your computer is currently on, restart it.
If it’s off, turn it on.
   - *Access the recovery environment*: As soon as your computer starts
(you may see a logo of the manufacturer), press and hold the *Power* button
until the computer turns off again. Repeat this process 2 more times, and
then let your computer restart normally. This will start the Windows
   recovery environment.
   - *Go to Troubleshoot*: On the *Choose an option* screen, select
   *Troubleshoot*.
   - *Go to Advanced options*: On the *Troubleshoot* screen, select *Advanced
   options*.
   - *Go to Startup Settings*: On the *Advanced options* screen,
select *Startup
   Settings*.
   - *Restart in Safe Mode*: On the *Startup Settings* screen, select
*Restart*. After your computer restarts, a list of options will come up.
Choose *5* or *F5* for Safe Mode with Networking.
   - Please leave the computer *booted into safe mode* until we have
applied the fix by contacting the Helpdesk in the next step.
   - Contact the ITS Helpdesk with your Tag/Barcode number (HD000xxx)
      - Call: 518-564-4433
      - Email: Helpdesk at plattsburgh.edu
      - ITS Portal
      <https://plattsburgh.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/90/Portal/Home/>
      - The ITS Helpdesk staff will guide you through the process to
      finalize the repair.

*Please be advised.* The scale of this incident may introduce phishing
scams and malware attacks that appear to be official. Please only perform
the manual steps above and contact the ITS Helpdesk to apply the fix.

We do anticipate a high call volume as we are handling calls as they are
received.

Thank you for your assistance,

Bernie
