Colleagues,,

If you are teaching a class in which accessibility issues for persons with
impairments is a relevant topic, please consider using online courses or
complete curricula from Deque University <https://dequeuniversity.com/>.

SUNY Plattsburgh has *free* access to this valuable training resource
through August 18. The process for enrolling students is easy. Simply send
me a CSV file <jlock004 at plattsburgh.edu> of your class roster (first name,
last name, email address), and I will get the accounts set up.

The Deque courses make excellent assignments for students, who can even
download certificates of completion as a way to enhance their resumes. They
are fully asynchronous, and many can be completed in less than an hour.
Note that enrollees will see all the available courses, so you will need to
direct your students to the courses/curricula that you want them to
complete.

And just as a reminder, as faculty and staff, we all have accounts. So even
if you don't feel the content is appropriate for students in your
particular subject area, as an instructor and SUNY employee, it's totally
appropriate for you! If you haven't logged-in yet, the process is fairly
simple:

1. Go to https://dequeuniversity.com/ and select the white login button in
the upper right corner of the screen.
2. Choose "Sign in with your Deque account," using your Plattsburgh email
address.
3. After selecting "Next," for the first time, you should click "forgot
password." Then create a password that's easy for you to remember (the
system creates a really cryptic one, but rather than try to remember that
one....)
4. Enter your email address. You will then receive a link so you can create
the new password. (If you don't see it, check your SPAM folder).
5. Once you've got a new password, you can log-in again and you're in!

Finally, I still have some t-shirts left. If you want to use that as an
incentive for your students, I will be happy to provide them (first come,
first served) once they or you complete a full curriculum.
