Colleagues,

The study away team is ramping up the promotion of the National Student
Exchange (NSE) program
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/academics/study-abroad-exchanges/programs/nse.html>
for the 2022/2023 academic year. Staff and faculty are key partners in
promoting this opportunity to our students and our priority deadline
is February
25, 2022. We’re hoping that you’ll be able to suggest this opportunity to
your advisees and students. *This Wednesday* is our first virtual "Lunch &
Learn" so you can learn more as a faculty or staff member about National
Student Exchange to share with your students. Please join us:

 Wednesday, January 19

12 pm - 1 pm

Why do students participate?

   -

broaden their educational perspective by taking classes not available at
   the Plattsburgh
   -

network at a future graduate school or in a different job market
   -

get outside their comfort zone...For some students, NSE is the first
time they have traveled away from home.
   -

study at a more diverse campus...NSE includes HBCUs
   <https://nse.org/exchange/destination/HBCU/>, HSIs (Hispanic Serving
Institutions, including 12 in Puerto Rico
   <https://nse.org/exchange/destination/puerto-rico/>), and AANAPISIs
(Asian-American, Native American, & Pacific Islander Serving Institutions).
   -

experience the geographic diversity of North America...Many students
choose a campus near the beach
   <https://nse.org/exchange/destination/beaches/> or the mountains
   <https://nse.org/exchange/destination/mountains/>!
   -

adventure, excitement, fresh perspective and new friends!
   -

find courses they *can't* find abroad!
   -

   grow beyond the North Country!
   -

NSE is affordable...Students pay their usual tuition to Plattsburgh
(Home Pay) or in a few cases pay the resident-rate tuition to their host
campus (Host Pay) AND most financial aid and scholarships follow students
   on exchange

Please reach out if you have any questions about NSE (or study abroad) or
if you want to partner to promote NSE to your students. If you'd like to
add a classroom presentation to your spring semester schedule, you can request
a presentation here

I hope to see you at our virtual NSE info session for staff and faculty.

Kind regards,

Brooke
