Dear Campus Community,
Over the past year, in response to a mandate from the SUNY Board of
Trustees, we have been preparing to launch a new initiative designed to
promote ongoing, inclusive access for individuals with disabilities and to
assure we are fully complying with accessibility standards for all of our
Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) processes.
This work includes many areas of our campus, including but not limited
functions ranging from Academic Affairs; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion;
and Enrollment and Student Success to disability services, risk management
and marketing. The group will also consult as needed with College Auxiliary
Services.
I wish to share my personal gratitude to Dr. John Locke for his willingness
to lead our newly constituted Electronic and Information Technology
Accessibility Committee. Dean Holly Heller-Ross has been instrumental in
the first year of planning for this committee’s development along with
assessing our current areas in need of further re-tooling in light of
accessibility concerns.
Members from many areas on our campus have been identified as key members
of this committee, and they will work with John to make sure SUNY
Plattsburgh is meeting all state and federal accessibility guidelines and
legislation for electronic and information technology access:
