Good Afternoon Cardinals,
A horrendous trend has been circulating among TikTok calling April 24th
National Rape Day.
The creation of this day, whether a hoax or not, is disgusting and
extremely harmful. No one should ever experience violence, or be made to
live in fear that violence is imminent.
Violence whether physical or verbal must be condemned.
It is important for us to speak up, challenge even those who make jokes,
and demand a change in the narrative.
As a part of recognizing sexual assault awareness month, we invite you to
attend Take Back the Night, tonight - April 23rd at 6 pm., where you can
stand in solidarity and hear stories from individuals who have experienced
violence (ZOOM ID: 9334 396 2920).
If you are a bystander to violence, consider your safety and then engage in
any of our Step UP! Strategies: direct, distract, delegate, delay, and/or
document. For more information on bystander intervention, consider
attending our workshop Tuesday, April 27th at 5 pm (ZOOM ID: 968 6257 6479)
or scheduling a workshop through our Title IX webpage.
Consider joining the Nationally recognized day: Denim Day, April 28th by
wearing denim in solidarity with those who have experienced violence.
If you have experienced violence and are in need of support, please reach
