[Important Information for Students] Opportunities for Continued Solidarity After Conviction of Derek Chauvin

Dear SUNY Plattsburgh,

As promised, the following information includes today's solidarity
activities.

*Releasing Spaces & Counseling*
*> Artistic Release* - Today, Thursday, April 22 there will be two
opportunities for artistic release and expression. Supplies will be
provided.

   - Sign creation in preparation for a community walk and protest held in
   the H.U.B. at 4:00 p.m.
      - The community walk and protest will be held on Friday, 4/23 (more
      details to come)
   - Creative writing and drawing in the Kyla Relaford Room at 6:00 p.m.

*> Journaling* -  the H.U.B. will be offering a journal drop-box open to
the community in-person and virtually, by sharing your perspectives here

Following the verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin for the killing of
George Floyd, we wanted to create physical and virtual ways for members of
the student community to anonymously express their responses, experiences,
emotions, political perspectives, and more.


There will be physical drop-boxes on campus for people to share their
experiences; for students studying remotely, please use this anonymous
form. We will print your responses out and include them with the notes from
on-campus students.


*> Listening sessions* - To assist students in processing their opinions,
thoughts, and feelings regarding the Derek Chauvin trial, the Student
Health & Counseling Center will be offering the following “listening
sessions.” All sessions will be facilitated by counselors from counseling
services. Please feel welcome to join the conversation.
