Dear Members of our Campus Community,
We’re saddened to have learned of the passing of two members of our campus
community, long-time psychology professor, Dr. Henry Morlock, who died
Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025 at 89, and of Ms. Lynn Anthony, retired secretary
to the dean at SUNY Plattsburgh at Queensbury, Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. She
was 66.
*Dr. Henry Morlock*
Dr. Morlock began his 34-year career at SUNY Plattsburgh as an assistant
professor of psychology, joining the faculty in the Division of Social
Sciences in September 1966. He was promoted to associate professor in 1967
and full professor in 1972. His published research on animal behavior and
human decision-making was widely respected, and he co-authored the book,
“Turtles: Perspectives and Research.” In 1979, he received the Chancellor’s
Award for Excellence in Teaching. Later, he served as chair of the
psychology department and as performance assessment coordinator from 1990
through June 1998 prior to his June 1999 retirement. In retirement, he
volunteered as a docent in the Plattsburgh State Art Museum and the
Champlain Valley Transportation Museum, the latter of which played into his
love of toy trains, especially of pre-World War II models.
He loved music and sang with the Champlain Valley Oratorio Society and the
Three Rogues, a Battle of Plattsburgh reenactment trio known for its lively
tavern songs.
Dr. Morlock earned his bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. in psychology from
the University of Pennsylvania. While completing his graduate studies, he
served as a research psychologist at Walter Reed in the U.S. Army Reserves,
attaining the rank of captain.
