Dear Camps Community,
SUNY System Administration notified our campus that some students from a
variety of colleges and universities across the country, including some
SUNY campuses, have received horrendous racist text messages. At the time
of this email, there have been no reports of this message being received on
our campus, but we want to affirm that this type of hatred has no place at
SUNY Plattsburgh or within our community. We stand ready to address this
issue on our campus and stand in alignment with others across the country
who have been targeted by this hatred.
This matter has already been referred by SUNY System Administration to New
York State law enforcement agencies. If you receive these disturbing text
messages and/or similar messaging or have any information about them, you
are asked to call University Police at 518-564-2022.
Support is available for SUNY Plattsburgh students, faculty and staff
members who may be impacted by this rash of hate. We are sharing this
information with you in alignment with our policy to make you aware of such
incidents, even if no one has reported being directly impacted.
