Dear Campus Community,

In 1954, when November 11th was officially named Veterans Day, United
States President Dwight D. Eisenhower called upon all citizens to “solemnly
remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly on the seas,
in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom."
Today, while our Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, National
Guard, Army Reserves, Marine Corps Reserves and Navy Reserves continue to
serve with dedication and honor around the world, we recognize their
commitment and all that they and their families have sacrificed in the name
of justice and freedom. Today, and every day, we owe them our respect and
gratitude.

As an institution that honors and supports Veterans, SUNY Plattsburgh works
to ensure that our military students get the help they need to reach their
educational, personal, and professional goals. Designated staff in our
Enrollment & Student Success division work with veterans to provide
specialized support and resources to them and their families, both on- and
off-campus. They ensure that veterans receive academic and financial
advising, access to disability counseling, information about the military
tuition assistance program and other funding options, and overall support
around the challenges of being a college student. They also work with
faculty and staff to help them best serve military-affiliated students. To
access these supports, please contact Michele Carpentier at 518-564-3811 or
email her a*t *carpenmm at plattsburgh.edu*.*

Veteran's Day is about taking time to appreciate and recognize our veterans
and their families. Please spend this day reflecting on our military's
honorable service to this great country as you remember their sacrifices
and their dedication to freedom and justice.

With appreciation and respect,
Alexander Enyedi
President
