 Good afternoon Campus Community,

I write to share the bittersweet news that Karen Waterbury has recently
announced her retirement from the college. Karen has served SUNY
Plattsburgh in an exemplary fashion for more than 30 years, 24 of which
were spent working as our Head Women's Soccer Coach and the last six of
which were spent as our Director of Recreation. In each of these
capacities, Karen placed students at the forefront, and her work spoke to
that commitment on a daily basis. We congratulate her on her years of
service and extend a heartfelt thank you for her dedication to our students.

With Karen's departure, I am pleased to share the following updates
regarding some recent restructuring in Athletics & Recreation;

   - Melissa LaMere will be assuming the role as our new Director of Campus
Recreation. Melissa has served as a valued member of the campus community
for many years working as an administrator in the fitness center, the
athletic department and as an instructor for the fitness and wellness
program. These experiences position her well to take on this new role, and
we welcome her leadership as a renovated Memorial Hall, which will enhance
recreational opportunities for the entire campus, continues to take shape.

   - Cheryl Cole, our current Head Women's Basketball coach, will be
transitioning throughout this semester to taking on many of Melissa's
former administrative duties. As such Cheryl, will be moving away from
coaching Women's Basketball beginning in August. Cheryl has served as an
Assistant AD and our NCAA designated Senior Women's Administrator for many
years so she will be a great asset in this new capacity.

   - Ben Sarraf, our current Associate Head Coach for Women's Basketball,
will be moving into his new role as "Interim" Head Women's Basketball
Coach. Ben has worked with our program for the past seven years in addition
to assisting the department in a number of other key areas throughout his
   time at Plattsburgh.

Have a great night,

Mike H.
