Advising Workshop: Important Updates to Federal Loan Eligibility Please
join us Wed., Sept 2, noon–1pm, for a Zoom

and guests from Student Financial Services. Why? The One Big Beautiful Bill
Act (OBBBA), passed by Congress as part of the budget reconciliation
process, was implemented in July 2026 and affects student loan eligibility
in a couple significant ways.

SFS Director, Todd Moravec and colleagues, will review these changes. We
will dialogue about revisions to what we tell our advisees (e.g., about
course drops and university withdrawals) and the circumstances under which
we should always refer our students to Student Financial Services.

Though adapted for advisors, all are welcome to attend. If you guide
students in any way, it is important that we collectively eliminate
outdated advice and language as we help students make curricular and life
decisions.
