Join us Mon. Sept. 23, 12-1pm, live on Zoom
<https://plattsburgh.zoom.us/j/89348608136>, for our *Next in Advising
Faculty/Staff Advisor Development Session: **An Advisor's Guide to Our
Access & Opportunity Programs & How to Refer Our Advisees Who Need Help*.
Join Elizabeth Bernat, Director of Academic Advising, in dialogue with
special guest Shatawndra Lister, Director of Access & Opportunity Programs
(AOPs), as we:
-
differentiate among the various AOPs,
-
distinguish what types of assistance program advisors provide to
supplement your major academic advising, and
-
explain to whom, how, and why you would refer one of your students.
There has been exponential growth in academic support programs and other
success resources for students in just the last few years at SUNY
Plattsburgh. Consequently, our advisees have robust networks of support,
yet the names of support programs or the process for referring students for
assistance might be new to you--for both new and experienced advisors
alike. We will provide this refresher for you!
First publicized in a 9/15 email to advisors, coaches, and counselors, *Next
in Advising *content is *geared toward advisor development*, but all campus
staff are welcome to attend and participate in this inclusive session. We
hope you can join us.
