*Cara Countryman* has been awarded the Northern New York Library Network
(NNLN) *Outstanding Student Employee Award* for 2023. The award recognizes
student workers who exhibit exceptional performance and leadership in
providing library service to the campus.

Ms. Countryman is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, and Phi
Theta Kappa honors societies. She received her A.S. degree in Early
Childhood Education from SUNY Ulster before transferring to SUNY
Plattsburgh.

She is currently pursuing the M.S. portion of SUNY Plattsburgh's Special
Education & Childhood Education Combined Program
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/programs/childhood-special-combined-bs-msed.html>,
having completed the B.S. portion with a 3.98 GPA. She is a native of
Kingston, NY.

Each year, Feinberg Library
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/academics/library/index.html> nominates
student employees who exemplify the standards of service and
professionalism that make them role models for all student workers in
libraries.

Ms. Countryman's supervisors have noted that she consistently supports the
team and holds herself accountable to the same standards that are placed on
others. She has completed all the library's required customer-service
training, has been consistently dependable on the job, and has demonstrated
a significant understanding of policies, procedures, and expectations.

"Cara is an active learner," said Linda Carpenter, Feinberg Library
Instructional Support Assistant. "She is eager to expand upon and share
her knowledge, and embraces opportunities to learn and grow. As a future
educator, Cara’s students will be fortunate to have a teacher who is
empowered to educate others about the importance of finding quality
resources and who will promote reading with purpose and understanding."

*Other awards Ms. Countryman has received* include SUNY Plattsburgh's
Florence C. Callahan Scholarship in Education, the Gilbert and Judith Duken
Scholarship in Education, and the Dr. Nicholas and Miriam Troisi
Scholarship.

Cara was presented with the 2023 NNLN award by Elin O’Hara-Gonya, director
of Feinberg Library, at an end-of-semester ceremony in the library.
