<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0)"><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0)"><font size="2"><b>Cara Countryman</b> has been awarded the Northern New York Library Network (NNLN) <b>Outstanding Student Employee Award</b> for 2023. The
award recognizes student workers who exhibit exceptional performance
and leadership in providing library service to the campus.</font></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0)"><font size="2"><br></font></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0)"><font size="2">Ms.
Countryman is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, and Phi
Theta Kappa honors societies. She received her A.S. degree in Early
Childhood Education from SUNY Ulster before transferring to SUNY
Plattsburgh. </font></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0)"><font size="2"><br></font></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0)"><font size="2">She is currently pursuing the M.S. portion of SUNY Plattsburgh's <a href="https://www.plattsburgh.edu/programs/childhood-special-combined-bs-msed.html" target="_blank">Special Education & Childhood Education Combined Program</a>, having completed the B.S. portion with a 3.98 GPA. She is a native of Kingston, NY.<br><br>Each year, <a href="https://www.plattsburgh.edu/academics/library/index.html" target="_blank">Feinberg Library</a>
nominates student employees who exemplify the standards of service and
professionalism that make them role models for all student workers in
libraries. <br><br>Ms. Countryman's supervisors have noted that she
consistently supports the team and holds herself accountable to the same
standards that are placed on others. She has completed all the
library's required customer-service training, has been consistently
dependable on the job, and has demonstrated a significant understanding
of policies, procedures, and expectations. <br><br>"Cara is an active learner," said Linda Carpenter, Feinberg Library Instructional Support Assistant. "She is eager to expand upon and share her knowledge, and embraces opportunities to learn and grow. As
a future educator, Cara’s students will be fortunate to have a teacher
who is empowered to educate others about the importance of finding
quality resources and who will promote reading with purpose and
understanding."</font></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0)"><font size="2"><br><b>Other awards Ms. Countryman has received</b> include
SUNY Plattsburgh's Florence C. Callahan Scholarship in Education, the
Gilbert and Judith Duken Scholarship in Education, and the Dr. Nicholas
and Miriam Troisi Scholarship.<br><br>Cara was presented with the 2023
NNLN award by Elin O’Hara-Gonya, director of Feinberg Library, at an
end-of-semester ceremony in the library.</font></div></div></div>
