It is a pleasure to invite you, on behalf of Dr. Christopher Kirkey, to
join us for the “Professional Research and Development Lunchtime
Presentation Series” featuring Dr. Christina Keppie, Director of the Center
for Canadian-American Studies, at Western Washington University.

TALK TITLE: "Coming Full Circle in the Evolution of the World Acadian
Congress.”

DATE/TIME: Thursday, March 2, 2023 at noon

LOCATION: The Center for the Study of Canada, SUNY Plattsburgh 133 Court
Street

OVERVIEW: Held every five years since 1994, the World Acadian Congress
(*Congrès
mondial acadien*) is an international gathering of Acadian culture. Its
mission is to fortify the ties among Acadian communities around the world.
Yet does it? We’ll learn that even among ethnic and cultural minorities,
power struggles are evident, and representation presents a challenge in
fulfilling the vision of a cultural celebration meant to present a cohesive
diaspora.

NOTE: Lunch will be provided. Your kind RSVP by Thursday, February 23rd to
help us confirm catering needs would be appreciated.

Kind thanks, in advance, for your consideration and response.
