Unclassified employees (UUP and M/C) are allowed to carry a maximum of 40
days of vacation/annual leave past December 31st. Classified employees
(CSEA, PEF, Police/Security) are allowed to carry a maximum of 40 days of
vacation/annual leave past March 31st. Due to the pandemic, the Governor’s
Office of Employee Relations (GOER) had suspended this maximum for 2021 and
2022.
*However, we are back to operating under the contractual expiration dates
for annual leave. Therefore, unclassified employees will not be able to
carry more than 40 days of annual leave past December 31, 2022 and
classified employees will not be able to carry more than 40 days of annual
leave past March 31, 2023.*
No employee action is necessary. Changes will be made programmatically to
the Time and Attendance System that will remove all unused annual leave in
excess of 40 days as of December 31, 2022 or April 31, 2023 for classified
employees.
As we move toward the end of the fall semester and into the holiday season,
hopefully employees will be able to take some much-needed time off. Please
coordinate time off requests with your supervisor. Supervisors are
encouraged to allow the use of vacation or other accruals when possible in
order to promote a healthy work-life balance.
