Updates to Holds for Students with Account Balances

Effective October 18, 2022, Student Financial Services will update the
appearance of the holds placed on student accounts with outstanding
balances. There will be no changes to the thresholds and criteria that
result in these holds, but the names of the holds and descriptive language
visible in MyPlattsburgh will become more accurate and transparent.  Students
with outstanding balances will still be able to request transcripts,
consistent with action taken by the SUNY Board of Trustees and Governor in
January, 2022. None of the current holds and updates block transcript
requests.

Effective October 18, the two holds related to outstanding account balances
will become:

   - Balance Due, registration ok (B1)
   This hold will exist for a student with any account balance greater than
   $0 but less than $1,500. This hold prevents access to a diploma and
   enrollment verification until the account balance is paid in full. Students
   can register for new coursework, request transcripts, and apply for
   graduation.


   - Balance Due, no registration (B2)
   This hold will exist for any account balance greater than or equal to
   $1,500. Students are not allowed to register for new coursework until their
   cumulative account balance becomes less than $1,500. The hold also prevents
   access to a diploma and enrollment verification. Students can request
   transcripts and apply for graduation.
