These SUNY-wide committees are open to all Plattsburgh faculty (academic
and professional)!


We are excited to open the University Faculty Senate Standing Committee
Application for 2022-2023.  We appreciate the hard work that our Senators
and Campus Governance Leaders do for the Senate, but much of the work
produced by the Senate each year is a direct outcome of the activities
carried out by our nine standing committees

of our initiatives, resolutions

group an even broader perspective that what we can achieve with our 54
elected representatives.  Please take some time to review the committee
charges <https://system.suny.edu/facultysenate/committees/> to familiarize
yourself with their work scope.  Before applying, please also consider the
time commitment required.  At the minimum you will expect monthly meetings
(virtual) and carry out assigned individual or collaborative
research/actions for your committee.   Most importantly, all committee
members are expected to attend in person the UFS Fall Planning Meeting,
which will be held this year in* Saratoga, NY on September 8th and 9th.*
THIS MEETING IS MANDATORY and in-person participation is required.  Those
with valid ADA/COVID requirements may request accommodations for remote
participation by contacting the UFS Office.



The committee member term is for one year, with eligibility of renewal each
year for (usually) up to three years before we ask that you either change
committees or take a year off.  Committee chairs are selected by the UFS
President, and will be the main conduit between the committee and the
executive committee.  The executive committee brings all approved committee
work to the body at least once per year.



New committee members must fill out the registration form and submit a CV.
Returning committee members must also fill out the registration form if
they wish to continue to serve on the same committee (no CV required) or if
they wish to apply to serve on a new committee (new CV required).



CV’s must be no more than 2 pages and include the information that is most
current and applicable to the committee(s) to which you are applying.  We
are all accomplished and most have many publications.  Unless they are
specifically relevant, please do not include in your submitted CV.  We do
read each person’s credentials and we get more than one hundred
applications per year.  Thank you for your consideration.



The Executive Committee will review all applicants and place in the
committees where needed at the Summer Planning Meeting in June.  Your first
selection of committee is not always guaranteed, but we do try to
accommodate your interests where we are able.  I will email you with an
acceptance or denial letter by July 1st.  Once accepted you should arrange
for travel to the Fall Planning Meeting.  You will begin receiving listserv
communications by July 15th from your committee chair.
