[Important Information for Students] Active Phishing Scam Alert

Good afternoon,

We are aware of an active phishing scam that has hit campus email accounts.
DO NOT CLICK on the link in the message and DO NOT Provide any information
about your account. The scam has been received with several different
subject lines, some examples are as follows:

Hold on your Plattsburgh ID
Retain your Plattsburgh ID
Information regarding your Plattsburgh

A sample message looks like the following:

*How can you tell this is a scam? - Hint look at all the yellow highlighted
areas*


   - The senders email address is a bogus @umbc.edu email address
   - [External] flag in the subject line means it came from a none @
   plattsburgh.edu account - someout outside our system
   - The link provided takes you to a bogus google site, not affilicated
   with our domain.


WE DON'T ASK FOR THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION OVER EMAIL!
