Dear Campus Community,
As shared earlier today, SUNY Upstate Medical University is now reporting
pooled test results directly to students, faculty and staff via email when
they are completed. These will come to your registered email address. You
will be given a link to follow, log in, and see your result. It will be
either presumed negative or positive.
If your result is presumed negative, you need take no further action. If
your result is positive, you will be contacted by the Student Health and
Counseling Center or the Clinton County Health Department with further
details. If you get the notification email before being contacted, we ask
you to self-isolate and contact your health care professional or the health
center at 518-564-2187 or healthcenter at plattsburgh.edu.
*Student Vaccine Update*
Thanks to all students who have completed the vaccine survey. There is wide
interest in getting shots when eligibility expands on Tuesday, April 6. We
are pursuing ways we can do this and expect to share details Friday via
email.
Students living on campus and elsewhere in Clinton County who are 18 or
older can also sign up for the county health department's standby list. The
county will use this list when there are extra doses available. You can
call 518-565-4848 or email health at clintoncountygov.com with the following
information:
- Subject line: COVID vaccination standby list
- Name
- Phone number
- Email address
- City, town or village of residence. Indicate your Clinton County
address or residence hall address.
All people in New York ages 16 and over can begin scheduling appointments
to receive one of three FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccines beginning next week.
All SUNY Plattsburgh employees, including student employees, are already
eligible to receive a vaccine. New York also provides access to all people
age 30 and older, as well as those in certain health categories.
State (https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/) and Clinton County (
http://www.clintonhealth.org/covid19vaccine/) web pages provide details on
appointments.
*COVID Cases*
The college recorded eight positive COVID-19 cases on Thursday. Over the
past 14 days, 111 total cases have been recorded, with 60 cases active and
51 recovered.
Based on public health guidance, 70 students and employees are in
quarantine -- 24 on-campus and 46 off-campus. We respect the privacy of
those in isolation and quarantine and will support them. If you are aware,
please also respect their privacy.
Our caseload remains below the state threshold that would prompt a pause in
on-campus classes and operations. This spring semester, the guidance from
the state is to pause when a campus' testing positivity rate is at 5
percent over a rolling 14-day period. Our current rate is 1.31 percent.
We encourage you to take steps daily to ensure the safety for you and all
around you. Wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash your hands, avoid
large social gatherings, and stay home when sick. More information is
online at plattsburgh.edu/COVID-19.
