Good Afternoon Campus Members,
We have just heard of the passing today of Dr. Christopher Drennan, 70, adjunct lecturer in political science.
Dr. Drennan, recently retired faculty member in history and political science at Clinton Community College, began his tenure as an adjunct at SUNY Plattsburgh in the spring 2017 semester. He has taught here ever since and had planned to teach this spring as well prior to his passing.
A native of Montreal, Quebec, Dr. Drennan had a 20-year career at Clinton Community and a well-traveled life, moving to Europe at a young age and, over the years, had lived in a number of countries including England, France, and the United States. He received his Diplôme D’Études Collégiales from Collége Dawson, Montréal, Canada in 1976, his Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Concordia University in Montreal, his master's degree from the London (England) School of Economics and Political Science in 1981 and his doctorate in 1988 from the University of Chicago.
After a period of teaching Hegelian philosophy at the graduate level and political thought at the undergraduate level at the University of Nevada-Reno, he moved to the North Country and began teaching at North Country Community College in 1994. In 2005 he became a member of the faculty at Clinton Community College, teaching various courses in history, political science and economics.
Further information will be shared as it becomes known.
Our condolences to all who knew and loved Dr. Drennan.
Be well and please stay safe.
Gerianne
