[Important Information for Employees] The Death of Dr. Edgar Burde

Dear Members of our Campus Community,
We were saddened to have learned of the death of Dr. Edgar Burde, longtime longtime English professor, at his home in Plattsburgh at the age of 95.
Dr. Burde joined the faculty as an assistant professor in the English department Sept. 1, 1970. He was promoted to the rank of associate professor in 1974 and to full professor in 1986.
He retired Dec. 31, 1999.
A Korean War-era vet, he attended grad school in Berkeley, Calif., and after several moves around the country, he and his wife of more than 50 years, Emily, landed in Plattsburgh in 1970. She predeceased him Feb. 16, 2025.
