~~ Save the Date and Call for Proposals! ~~
Monday, November 3, 2025, will be the fourth year in which Black Solidarity
Day <https://www.plattsburgh.edu/plattslife/diversity/teach-in.html> is a
part of the SUNY Plattsburgh Academic Calendar
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/news/news-archive/black-solidarity-day-officially-added-to-suny-plattsburghs-academic-calendar.html>,
held annually on the first Monday of November since 2022. In recognition of
Black Solidarity Day, SUNY Plattsburgh will host a Social Justice Teach-In,
featuring programming for the Plattsburgh and Queensbury community about
racial justice, anti-racism, and social justice. This annual event
features a series of concurrent sessions held all over campus and in
virtual online spaces, led by students, faculty, staff, and community
groups. The theme for November 2025 is "Meeting the Moment: Amplifying Our
Voices and Efforts.”
This is a day to meditate on the meaning of social justice and civic
engagement in our globally diverse world. Black Solidarity Day is meant "to
highlight racial injustices, societal inequities, and to illuminate how
Black voices are integral to American life" and our university community. We
invite students, faculty, staff, and community members to contribute a
teach-in session that aligns directly to the theme for 2025, "Meeting the
Moment: Amplifying our Voices and Efforts" and that speaks to the meaning
of Black Solidarity Day and/or that engages with social justice, broadly
defined.
For teaching faculty, we encourage you to mark this date in your syllabus
and consider incorporating an assignment or student presentation at Black
Solidarity Day that aligns with your curriculum.
The 2025 proposal submission form is located at this link

Co-facilitated and collaborative session proposals are welcomed and
student-led presentations are strongly encouraged. Please share our
invitation with community members and organizations who may also be
interested in presenting and encourage them to submit a proposal.
The deadline for submitting proposals is September 29, 2025.
