Dear Campus Community,
Thank you to all who were able to attend this morning's moment of silence
at the 9/11 memorial adjacent to Hawkins Pond. As we reflect on this solemn
day, I want to share a message from Chancellor King that speaks to the
importance of remembrance and unity in the wake of 9/11.
Sincerely,
Alexander Enyedi
President

“In the wake of the September 11 attacks, our state, our nation, and our
neighbors around the world came together in a remarkable display of
resilience and unity. Amid the tragic attacks that shook our nation to its
core and killed thousands of innocent people, Americans from all corners of
the nation set aside their differences to unite and declare in one voice
that we will, and we must persevere in the face of terrorism. We also
recognize and remember all the brave emergency responders who gave their
lives and their health on 9/11 and during its aftermath.
“As the first generation of students born in a post-9/11 world attend
college, it is our duty as educators of New York’s students to ensure they
understand the challenges the nation faced after September 11 and can fully
reflect upon the idea that we are a nation that must stand united. We must
continue to come together as one voice to ensure our nation never forgets.”
