[Important Information for Employees] The Death of Jennifer Breyette and Dr. Robert Ellsworth

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

With great sadness we inform you of the loss of two of our community in
recent days.

Jennifer Breyette, a keyboard specialist and secretary, and Dr. Robert
Ellsworth, a professor in chemistry.

Ms. Breyette died Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Albany Medical Center. She
was 72.

She joined the staff as a keyboard specialist in February 1989 in media
services. Promoted to secretary 1 in July 1993, Ms.Breyette worked in
Sponsored Research until her promotion in 2002 to agency program aide. In
August 2004, she moved over to the School of Business and Economics as
secretary 2. She retired in June 2009.

Calling hours and memorial service were held in Albany Relatives and
friends were invited to attend her calling hours on Tuesday, April 16 at
New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, N.Y., 12205,

Dr. Ellsworth, who died March 21, 2024 at his home in Plattsburgh, was a
Plattsburgh native, having graduated from Plattsburgh High School and then
SUNY Plattsburgh, first in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary
science education and then with his master’s in elementary education in
1965. He joined the faculty at SUNY Plattsburgh in 1965 as an assistant
professor. In 1966, he and his wife, Nancy ’66 G’70, moved to Ames, Iowa,
so he could attend Iowa State University to earn his Ph.D. in 1968.

Dr. Ellsworth returned to SUNY Plattsburgh where he then taught chemistry.
He was promoted to associate professor in September 1970 and promoted to
full professor in October 1973. He remained at SUNY Plattsburgh until June
1986 when he started his own business, Hook & Hackle, a mail-order fly
fishing, hunting and shooting company.

Dr. Ellsworth was 82 years old.
