Dear Cardinals,

Recent media reports regarding Israel and Gaza call upon each of us to be
alarmed about the violence, loss of life, and indiscriminate attacks on
children, civilians, and visitors in the region. Now, more than ever, we
must continue to strive for global peace, as we come together to support
our neighbors, both locally and abroad.

Please know that SUNY Plattsburgh understands that many of our students,
employees, alumni, and community members have loved ones and friends in the
region impacted by this ongoing crisis. We stand ready to support you. We
understand the stress and anxiety that comes with knowing that people, near
and far, are experiencing such violence.

During this difficult time, please remember that there is support here on
campus for those who wish to reach out.

Students who would like to speak with someone are encouraged to call
the Counseling
Center

at 518-564-2187. Students may also take advantage of our Student Assistance
Program <https://portal.bhsonline.com/auth/hashcode>, which provides
immediate, 24/7 services by trained counselors at no additional cost.

Employees are encouraged to contact the Employee Assistance Program
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/administration-finance/human-resources/benefits/employee-assistance-program.html>
by emailing eap at plattsburgh.edu for support and for referrals to additional
community professionals and resources.

In addition, please know that our Office of Diversity, Equity and
Inclusion, located on the first floor of the Angell College Center, and our
Global Education Office, located on the 10th floor of Kehoe, stand ready to
support you.

Let us continue to promote our shared values about the importance of
inclusion, equity-minded practices, and pluralism in the workplace, in
classes, in co-curricular activities, and in society as we strive to
eradicate intolerance, hate, and bias. Together, we can all do one thing to
lead our world toward a new era of global peace and cross-cultural
understanding.

In Solidarity,

Dr. Alexander Enyedi
President
