[Important Information for Employees] Good News: VP for Enrollment and Student Success Update

Dear Campus Community,

I am very pleased to announce that Ms. Karen McGrath will be joining SUNY
Plattsburgh as our new Vice President for Enrollment and Student Success
(VPESS). Ms. McGrath is the current Senior Vice President of Enrollment and
Student Success at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY and her appointment
begins July 01, 2023.

With over thirty-five years of progressive leadership experience in higher
education administration, Ms. McGrath has been instrumental in shaping and
implementing enrollment management and student success plans that focus on
successful recruitment, matriculation, retention, and degree completion
strategies. Throughout her career, she has had direct oversight of various
offices and departments, including Admissions, Student Experience,
Residential Life, Campus Safety, Student Health (medical and personal
counseling), Campus Vibrancy, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Civic
Engagement, Campus Activities, Health and Wellness Promotion, Center for
Student Success, and Student Conduct.

I look forward to Karen joining our Cardinal community, and I believe her
commitment to servant leadership and investment in our Plattsburgh Next
strategic plan will be critical to the University. Please join me in
welcoming Ms. McGrath to our university community.

The Committee's thoughtful review of dossiers brought a qualified slate of
candidates to campus for this highly competitive search. I also appreciate
the high level of staff, faculty and student participation at all of the
candidate sessions. Your involvement, questions and investment in this
process demonstrates our collective commitment to student success, both on
our campus and beyond.

Finally, I want to thank Cori Jackson for her committed work as our interim
VPESS the past 15 months. Cori’s steady and impactful leadership was always
student-centered as she guided the division of ESS to support our students
and their success.
