[Important Information for Employees] Chancellor's Awards for Excellence

Dear Cardinal Community,


I am very pleased to share news that six members of our campus community
have been recognized by the State University of New York with the
prestigious Chancellor's Awards for Excellence.


These include:

   Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service

   Dr. Mustafa Demir
   Associate Professor, Criminal Justice
   Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities

   Dr. Alyssa Gleichsner
   Assistant Professor, Biological Sciences
   Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching

   Ms. Shannon Nephew
   Instructional Support Associate, School of Arts & Sciences
   Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service

   Dr. Kenneth Podolak
   Associate Professor, Physics
   Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Faculty Service

   -

   Dr. Nithya Shankar
   Assistant Professor, Marketing & Entrepreneurship
   Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching

I appreciate the contributions and investment that each of these Cardinals
make in the life of this campus - and the impact that they have on the
success of our students. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak
individually with each award recipient and offer my congratulations. I was
delighted to hear their surprise and happiness at being told the news.


We will formally recognize these awards in August at our annual Fall
Welcome event. In the interim, a news story will be posted this week on our
website and through local media.


I want to thank all of those who submitted paperwork, testimonials, and
support materials for consideration, as well as members of the review
committees who carefully reviewed each submission and prepared the files
for evaluation in Albany.


It takes the entire campus to provide what we do in the lives of students.
And today I want to especially acknowledge these six special individuals.

Nithya!
