[Important Information for Employees] Passing of SUNY Plattsburgh Student

Dear Campus Community,


It is with great sadness that I share with you that Katrina Bodrogi, a
current SUNY Plattsburgh student, passed away unexpectedly on August 2,
2023.  Katrina was pursuing pre-med at SUNY Plattsburgh in preparation for
her medical degree, and was enrolled in summer classes at the time of her
death.

Katrina
as a kind young woman whose generous spirit touched all who were lucky
enough to know her. Always helpful to others, Katrina had a vibrant circle
of friends and family.


For those who wish to pay their respects to Katrina in person, calling
hours will be held this Friday, August 11th, 4 to 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral
Home, Plattsburgh, N.Y. A celebration of Katrina's life will be held
Saturday, August 12th, at the former Regina Maria, 77 Brinkerhoff Street,
Plattsburgh, N.Y.


Donations in Katrina's memory can be made to the Elmore SPCA and Clinton
County Community Services Board to support The Coalition to Prevent Suicide.


I understand that news of this nature is difficult to hear, and recognize
that grieving is a process that affects everyone differently.  I want to
assure you that the University remains committed to providing a
compassionate and caring environment for everyone.


Students are encouraged to reach out to our counseling center at
518-564-2187. Additionally, our Student Assistance Program (SAS) continues
to provide all students with free, 24/7 access to real-time support from
counseling professionals, even during summer break. You can call SAS at
1-800-327-2251 or text them at  1-800-327-2251 whenever you need
assistance.


Employees in need of support are encouraged to reach out to the Employee
Assistance Program at eap at plattsburgh.edu for information and referrals to
helpful community resources.


At this difficult time, let us honor Katrina’s memory by coming together as
a united campus community, offering kindness, understanding, and strength
to one another.


Please keep Katrina's family and friends in your thoughts as they grieve
their loss and begin to heal.
