Dear Campus Community:
As COVID-19 has evolved and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control
(CDC) and SUNY have changed, so has our response. Although we are no longer
in a state of emergency, we should remain vigilant and take steps to care
for all members of our campus and greater Plattsburgh community.
Protecting the Cardinal Community
-
Get vaccinated and boosted. Appointments for vaccines and the newly
authorized bivalent COVID boosters are available at local pharmacies
<https://www.vaccines.gov/search/>. Details for an on-campus clinic will
be out soon.
-
Get a flu shot. Schedule an appointment
<https://www.vaccines.gov/find-vaccines/> at a local pharmacy.
-
Consider wearing a mask. This is an option, not a mandate - but it’s
still a great way to reduce your risk of getting COVID-19 (and the flu)!
-
If you have respiratory symptoms (nasal congestion, sore throat, cough),
mask up and take an at-home rapid antigen test; test kits are available in
the Student Health & Counseling Center lobby, ACC information desk, and
bookstore lobby. On-campus students may also obtain test kits in the Duty
Office, located in each residence hall. We recommend that you test no more
than once a day.
-
Students who test positive should follow the campus isolation guidelines
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/covid-19/index.html>. While students are no
longer required to report their positive test results to the Health Center,
please contact us if you want an appointment with a medical provider. If
you have severe symptoms (i.e. shortness of breath with chest pain), call
911 or dial University Police at (518) 564-2022.
The evolving pandemic has necessitated changes to our response. What has
not changed is the Health Center’s commitment to helping students. Whether
you need an appointment with a medical provider, or just have a question,
please email at healthcenter at platttsburgh.edu or call (518) 564-2187.
