Dear Campus Community,



A reminder that the campus' Social Distancing and Face Covering Policy

remains in effect for all students, faculty and staff, regardless of
vaccination status. Face Coverings are required upon entering a campus
building and must be worn in common areas such as elevators, lobby,
bathrooms, when traveling around the building, in classrooms and labs, in
meeting spaces, and working in shared spaces.



As most of you have heard, a State Supreme Court in Nassau County ruled
yesterday that the Governor’s mask mandate was unconstitutional. The
Attorney General has already filed an appeal in this case and we expect
that other actions may be taken. Despite the State court decision, each
campus maintains independent authority to require additional health and
safety restrictions on our premises regardless of the State’s mandate. As a
result, it is SUNY’s position there is no need to alter the current mask
requirements and the mask mandate remains in effect across SUNY.   We
believe that masks are an effective mitigation tool and should be
maintained. This policy is in place to promote our college campus' health
and safety.
