Dear Camus Community,

I write to inform you of the passing of Dr. Isabel Arredondo, Professor of
Modern Languages & Cultures at SUNY Plattsburgh, where she focused on
minority discourse, especially gender and ethnicity.

Dr. Arredondo began her career at SUNY Plattsburgh in 1994, where she
taught courses on Latin American culture and film and Spanish language. As
an active member of the Latin American Studies Association, Dr. Arredondo
also devoted much of her time and effort to organizing the program on Arts
and the Media, in addition to chairing several panels and presenting
academic papers.

As we collectively mourn this loss, we are simultaneously grateful for Dr.
Aredoneo's immeasurable impact on our community. Her dedication to student
success, her accomplished and ongoing pursuit of academic excellence, and
her support of her colleagues and peers were among her many contributions
to our campus.

Dr. Arrendondo had been seriously ill for more than a year. She had
plans for an exciting sabbatical this coming year that would have taken her
to multiple continents.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time. Additional information will be
shared as it becomes available.

Deepest condolences to those who knew and loved her.

Sincerely,

*Heather Haskins*
