Dear Campus Community,,

This afternoon, I was made aware that a SUNY Plattsburgh African American
student was verbally threatened by a City of Plattsburgh resident. While I
do not yet know all details at this time, this appears to be a racially
motivated incident. I want to assure campus that the matter is being
actively investigated by City, State, and University Police and that an
arrest has just been made.

In addition, this incident is moving through the DEI process under the
leadership of Dr. Richard Miller in close and ongoing consultation with me.
At this time, my primary concern is the health and safety of all SUNY
Plattsburgh students. We are providing full support of the College to the
student including safe housing and ensuring access to all campus facilities
and classrooms.

When further details become available, I will share them with the campus
community as appropriate. If you have any questions or are feeling unsafe,
please reach out to the University Police at 518-564-2022.

Thank you.

Alexander Enyedi

President
