[Important Information for Employees] Campus Update | COVID Cases

Dear Campus Community,



We are writing with this week's update on COVID-19 cases and related
information. Updates may also be provided as needed other days of the week.


Over the past 14 days, the campus has recorded five positive student
cases. No students or
employees are in quarantine. Two employees are also reported to be in
isolation. If you are aware of individuals affected, please respect their
privacy.

*All Student Testing This Week*

Testing of all students regardless of vaccination status continues through
Wednesday, October 20. Details were shared earlier by the Student Health
and Counseling Center.



We are continuing with the use of home test kits for students. Completed
tests may be dropped off at Algonquin Hall from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4
p.m. Check the testing site webpage for details

came to testing this week and are vaccinated do not need to test next week.


SUNY Upstate Medical University reports pooled testing results directly to
students, faculty and staff to your registered email address when
completed. If your result is presumed negative, you need take no further
action. If your result is positive, you will be contacted by the Student
Health and Counseling Center or the Clinton County Health Department with
further details. If you get the notification email before being contacted,
we ask you to self-isolate and contact your health care professional or the
health center at 518-564-2187 or healthcenter at plattsburgh.edu.


*Mask Requirement Remains in Effect*
Cases have decreased recently but are still high in our area. The number of
hospitalized COVID patients, for example, has risen in Clinton County and
the general population continues to have a high test positivity rate.
Accordingly, the CDC recommends that even vaccinated people continue to
wear masks in indoor public areas. This includes all government buildings
and many businesses and retail establishments.

Please continue to follow our indoor face covering policies to respect the
health and safety of yourselves and each other.



*Surveillance Testing and Contact Tracing*

Surveillance testing will continue weekly for unvaccinated or partially
vaccinated individuals who come to campus for any reason (e.g. in-person
classes, living in the residence halls, student organization meetings,
etc.) including students who have an exemption, and for employees who have
not submitted a Vaccination Attestation Form.

The Clinton County Health Department conducts contact tracing and
determines who needs to be quarantined based on their level of contact.
Individuals who are fully vaccinated do not have to quarantine unless they
develop symptoms. Vaccinated students can attend pool testing three to five
days after exposure.

We encourage you to take steps daily to ensure the safety for you and all
around you. Wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash your hands, avoid
large social gatherings, and stay home when sick. More information is
