Dear Friends,

It is very sad to have to inform you of recent two deaths of colleagues,
Ronald Marbut Jr., from Maintenance and Operations, and Dr. J. Stallard
“Stall” Waterhouse, professor emeritus of biology.

Mr. Marbut died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at his home in Stanhope, N.J. He
joined the staff in M&O as a maintenance helper in February 1978.
Throughout the years, Mr. Marbut was a cleaner, maintenance assistant,
janitor, and grounds worker. He became a senior grounds worker in January
2000, a position he held until his retirement in September 2010.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having enlisted in 1970, serving until
1972 active duty. Mr. Marbut remained in active reserves from 1972 to 1976.
He previously worked at Imperial Mill.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Oct. 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Zaumetzer
Funeral Home, 3 College St., AuSable Forks, 518-647-8177,
www.hzfuneralhome.com. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
Friday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. at Holy Name Church, Main Street, AuSable Forks.
Burial will follow in St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Black Brook.

Dr. J. Stallard Waterhouse died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at Meadowbrook
HealthCare after struggling with a series of illnesses over the last three
years.

Dr. Waterhouse joined the faculty of the biology department, his primary
course of instruction being human anatomy and physiology, in September 1960
 as an assistant professor. He was promoted to associate professor in 1967
and full professor in 1972.

He was active in Sigma Xi, the scientific research society, holding
positions of chair and northeastern regional director. In addition, he
served as chair and regional director for the American Heart Association,
president of the United University Professions, SUNY Plattsburgh chapter,
and as a warden at Trinity Church.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services. A celebration life will
be held at a later date. Ashes will be interred in the family plot in
Newmarket Cemetery, Newmarket, Ontario. Arrangements have been entrusted to
Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, 518-561-3980,
