[Important Information for Employees] Campus Update from President Enyedi

 Dear Campus Community,

I am writing to share my plan to launch SUNY Plattsburgh’s Campus,
Community, and Safety Advisory Committee to provide vision and guidance
related to the delivery of University Police (UP) services and other
safety-related matters.

In accordance with SUNY guidelines, the Committee will consist of UP
officers and a minimum of six additional members, including:

   - One-third of the members shall be appointed from a list of students
   that contains at least twice the number to be appointed. Our campus will
   seek nominations from the Student Association, Black Onyx, Fuerza, the
   Plattsburgh Association of Black Journalists (PABJ), the Student Diversity
   Council, and other groups;
   - One-third of the members shall be appointed from a list of faculty
   members that contains twice the number to be appointed, which will be
   provided by the Faculty Senate;
   - At least half of the members shall identify as female; and
   - One-third shall be selected by the president.

This highly collaborative partnership will will optimize trust and
wellbeing on campus by providing thoughtful insight into the safety and
security needs of our diverse campus community. Together, they will evaluate
policies, plans and procedures related to campus safety; make
recommendations; facilitate communication across campus; and develop a
mutual understanding of roles and expectations.

The Advisory Committee will be formed by November 18 and will hold their
first meeting on or before November 29, 2021.
