SENT ON BEHALF OF HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICES
Colleagues,
As spring gets closer and the days get longer, many of us may be planning a
much-needed vacation. Similar to everything else related to the COVID-19
pandemic, this may take some extra preparation. If you are travelling
outside of New York State or its bordering states (NJ, CT, PA, MA, VT), you
are required to quarantine upon your return for 10 days or opt to test-out
of the quarantine. Reference the NYS COVID-19 Travel Advisory
<https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel-advisory> for complete
information. As of Wednesday, March 3, the Governor announced that
domestic travelers are no longer required to quarantine or test-out within
90 days of full vaccination. International travelers must continue to
follow CDC guidelines.
For many people, even with the test-out option (one test 3 days prior to
returning to NYS and another test 4 days after your return), you will be
out of work longer than just your scheduled vacation time-frame.
Therefore, it is important to discuss this with your supervisor well in
advance. The supervisor has the discretion, in limited circumstances, to
approve a work from home option while you are quarantining or waiting test
results. If working from home is not an option, employees will be required
to charge appropriate leave accruals during this time.
Any questions or concerns can be directed to Human Resource Services at
hrs at plattsburgh.edu.
