[Important Information for Employees] The Death of Merle Gilbert

Dear Campus Community,

We are sorry to inform you of the death of Merle Gilbert, who died at age
96 of natural causes at Meadowbrook Healthcare.

The Plattsburgh native and her late husband, John, raised five children
before she joined the staff as a typist in 1972 in what was then called
Buildings and Grounds. In 1980, she moved over to computer science,
retiring in 1985.

At Ms. Gilbert’s request, there will be no calling hours or services. A
