SENT OF BEHALF OF STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES, PAYROLL SERVICES, HUMAN
RESOURCE SERVICES, AND THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER
As we near the end of the fall semester, I wanted to share some important
information with the campus regarding student employment. First and
foremost, we are here to support our students. A way we can do this is by
offering on-campus employment opportunities to them. There are two separate
student payrolls, Student Temp Service and Federal Work Study (FWS).
Student Temp Service comes out of departmental budgets, FWS does not.
Student Financial Services awards FWS to eligible students and many
students receive FWS as part of their financial aid package. You are
encouraged to hire work study students whenever possible if you have an FWS
budget for the fiscal year.
FWS Budget Coordinators
FWS budgets are coordinated by the FWS designee within your division and
Student Financial Services. Below are the FWS designees for each division:
-
Academic Affairs: Gregory Withrow (gregory.withrow at plattsburgh.edu)
-
Administration and Finance: Todd Moravec (todd.moravec at plattsburgh.edu)
-
Enrollment and Student Success: Cori Jackson (jacksoc at plattsburgh.edu)
-
Institutional Advancement: David Gregoire (gregoidp at plattsburgh.edu)
Federal Work Study/Student Temp Service Updates
-
If you have a budget for FWS and are not using it, please notify the FWS
designee within your division so that money can be released and reallocated
to other departments. If your department does not have a budget for FWS but
would like to, contact the designee within your division to request one.
-
If your department has both types of funding available, use FWS first.
-
If you have identified a student that does not currently have FWS
awarded to them, contact Student Financial Services to evaluate their
eligibility (sfs at plattsburgh.edu). In some cases, they may be eligible
for FWS and were not originally offered an award due to budgetary
constraints.
