Dear Campus Community,

The campus community recorded one new case of COVID-19 on Friday, a
maintenance employee who was in quarantine.

Over the past 14 days, 29 cases have been recorded within the campus
community. Additionally, three students are in precautionary isolation
having tested negative with a rapid test but awaiting back-up PCR test
results.

By direction of the county health department, 42 students (15 on-campus and
27 off-campus) and 10 employees are in mandatory or precautionary
quarantine. Those in isolation and quarantine are being released as they
recover and risk times expire.

We respect the privacy of those in isolation and quarantine and will
support them. If you are aware, please also respect their
privacy. Decisions by the health department for quarantine are based on an
assessment of potential exposure to help prevent possible viral spread.

Please avoid traditional Halloween parties and gatherings this weekend.
These could serve as spreader events for coronavirus and put you and your
friends at risk. As we see cases increase locally and statewide, please
continue our focus on prevention and our care for each other's health and
safety. This includes:

   - Complete the daily health screening
   <https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/administration-finance/human-resources/health-screening-covid-19.html>
    form.
   - Follow the Cardinal Pledge, including face coverings, distancing and
   avoiding large social gatherings.
   - Stay local and avoid travel outside the area for the duration of the
   semester.
   - Download *the New York State COVID-19 alert app*
   <https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-alert-ny>.

This week's 1,416 pooled surveillance testing samples are at SUNY Upstate
Medical University. We will share results when available. Testing continues
next week. The following week, November 11-13, we will be conducting
mandatory pooled testing of all students. Details will be shared soon.
