Dear Campus Community,

Two additional off-campus students tested positive today for COVID-19. The
students are isolated and following health and safety directions.

We respect the privacy of these students and will support them. If you are
aware, please also respect their privacy.

Eight total cases have been reported this week and 10 total since
mid-August. As a result of aggressive contact tracing conducted by the
county health department, there are currently 49 asymptomatic students in
quarantine (19 on-campus and 30 off-campus). One student is in
precautionary isolation.

More details on our approaches were in my note to campus earlier today. *You
can read it here*

.

I have also scheduled a Town Hall meeting on Friday (10/16) from 11 to
11:45 a.m. for faculty, staff and students. We will provide some updates
and answer questions. This will be recorded and posted on the COVID webpage
as well if you cannot make it. You can watch online live here:

Following the Cardinal Pledge, which details a commitment to face
coverings, social distancing, hand washing, and avoiding large
social gatherings, is our path to success. The daily online health
screening is another preventive tool you are asked to do in helping us get
past this cluster and finish the semester strong.

The results from yesterday's pooled surveillance testing should be returned
from SUNY Upstate Medical University tomorrow or Saturday. We will share
those results with you.

And always, the latest data and other details are online at
