Dear Campus Community,
The college recorded eight new COVID-19 cases on Monday. Over the past 14
days, 81 total cases have been recorded.
Of the new cases, five were identified from Friday's pooled samples and
three from separate tests. The balance of Friday's surveillance tests were
negative and participating students have been notified. One pool of 12
samples from Thursday's surveillance testing remains outstanding.
*Limit Gatherings and Activities*
Many of you have already left the Plattsburgh area or will be returning
home soon. With a rapid acceleration of cases in all locations, COVID-19 is
a factor wherever we go. Best practices now are crucial to reduce the
spread of the virus and to keep each of our communities safe.
As I wrote over the weekend, those who remain on campus over the next few
days should limit gatherings and activities to only those that are
necessary. Please reach out to relevant organizers, supervisors or faculty
if you have specific questions.
As we all transition to Thanksgiving break, followed by fully remote
classes for the rest of the semester, I ask you to take the Cardinal Pledge
each day wherever you are: wear your mask, practice social distancing, wash
your hands, avoid large social gatherings, and stay home when sick.
*Testing, Isolation and Quarantine*Pooled surveillance testing will
continue Wednesday for college employees.
By direction of the county health department, 115 students (42 on-campus
and 73 off-campus) and two employees are in mandatory or precautionary
quarantine. Additionally, no students are in precautionary isolation having
tested negative with rapid tests but awaiting back-up PCR test results.
Those in isolation and quarantine are being released as they recover and
risk times expire. We respect the privacy of those in isolation and
quarantine and will support them. If you are aware, please also respect
their privacy.
Dr. Alexander Enyedi
President
