Dear Colleagues,
All students completing the Cardinal Core Curriculum will need to complete
6 credits of CCC classes at the 300 or 400 level. These classes CAN
double-dip with major requirements. In addition, there are many majors that
will need these to come from courses outside of their own discipline. Most
students who began in the Cardinal Core Curriculum in Fall 2021 will be
ready to start upper-level CCC courses in Fall 2022, however there are
still limited selections being offered.
We need your help in expanding the number of 300 or 400 level courses in
CCC. Upper division CCC courses should be accessible to a wide range of
students, but can include an expectation of some level of "academic
maturity." Appropriate prerequisites could include completion of a course
in the applicable CCC category (e.g., completion of a course in Human
Communities) or a minimum class standing (e.g., sophomore standing or
above). Courses will primarily be rooted in the liberal arts and sciences
and should be aimed at exploring multiple points of view around a topic.
Please reach out to me or Shawna Mefferd-Kelty, chair of the General
Education Committee (we are filling in as points of contact while Wendy
Gordon the CCC coordinator is on sabbatical) with any questions or ideas
you have regarding the Cardinal Core Curriculum.
Thanks!
JoAnn
