[Teaching-Faculty] Ad Hoc Working Group to Reconsider Academic Calendar for Fall 2021

Colleagues,

I hope this week is ending well for you.

Just writing a brief note to update you on the individuals who will be
looking again at the Academic Calendar for Fall 2021 and determining
whether or not 2-3 days should be built in to provide open/unscheduled time
in the semester to benefit both students and faculty.

If you were part of an earlier Senate discussion, you would be aware that
for health and safety reasons, we are concerned about any significant break
time where students would leave and return, potentially causing our
community to have an increase in COVID infections.  Much is not "knowable"
by any of us right now in terms of how the fall semester will be influenced
(or not) by COVID.  For now, we do need to continue to plan as if it will
be a factor.
