Dear Colleagues;
This week, we are wrapping up the first semester of CFS 1889, the Cardinal
Foundation Seminar. It has been a wild, inspiring, surprising, and
sometimes frustrating experience for many of us who taught the class. I am
looking forward to reviewing assessment material we collected last month
and seeing how the class worked for the students we engaged. You can find
more information about CFS 1889 on the Cardinal Core Curriculum Moodle
page, here:
https://moodle.plattsburgh.edu/course/view.php?id=24807§ion=5
It is my hope that every instructor on campus will have the chance to teach
this course from time to time. The next opportunity for you to take on a
section of CFS 1889 will be for Fall 2022, when our goal is to offer 40
sections – enough seats for the entire class of First-year Students. Please
take this as an invitation to submit a Topic Proposal to Curriculog. Once
your topic proposal is approved, you will be able to schedule CFS 1889 at
any time it fits into your regular teaching rotation – whether that is next
Fall or later. If you already have an approved CFS topic, there is no need
for you to resubmit if you want to teach that same topic again – please
just let me know when you are interested in teaching a section (or more).
New topics for Fall 2022 should be proposed by early February, if possible,
to facilitate creating the master schedule.
Instructions for topic proposal:
- Find Curriculog on MyPlattsburgh – in the Course Information menu of
the Faculty tab.
- Log in to Curriculog after you enter the program (top right)
- Choose “New Proposal” at the center top of the screen
- Choose the option “Cardinal Foundation Seminar Topic 2021-22” (click
the check mark)
- Follow directions from there.
- Please remember to include a sample syllabus with the proposal.
As always, I am happy to talk with you individually about this program, or
anything else regarding the Cardinal Core Curriculum.
Best wishes,
Wendy
