The SUNY Plattsburgh Departments of Music and Theatre will be presenting a
Fall 2026 Musical — Come from Away by Irene Sankoff and David Heinon —
Thursday, November 5 to Sunday, November 8, 2026.

Come From Away is a critically acclaimed and award-winning musical by Irene
Sankoff and David Hein. The show is based on the true story when the
isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What
started as an average day in a small town turned into an international
sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the
globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted
by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the
stranded travelers with music, an open bar, and the recognition that we’re
all part of a global family. (MTIshows.com} Come From Away is an uplifting
reminder of humanity’s ability to come together, no matter what the
circumstances. This production has musical direction by Pamela Lavin,
choreography by Mireena Fleury, stage direction by Shawna Mefferd Kelty,
and is being conducted by Daniel Gordon.

Come from Away will be performed in the Hartman Theatre within the John
Myers Building on November 5, 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m., and November 8 at 2
p.m. General Admission for the performance is $20, and Student Association
members admission is $10. Tickets are on sale now and can be bought online
at https://campusgroups.plattsburgh.edu/musthe/events/, or at the cash only
box office an hour before the performances.
