$1300 Scholarship Opportunity for 4 students

The Douglas Skopp Social Justice Scholarship was created to honor the late
Dr. Douglas Richard Skopp. Dr. Douglas Skopp joined the History Department
here at SUNY Plattsburgh in the fall of 1972.
This scholarship seeks to identify and recognize a student that
demonstrates:
1. Leadership skills in inclusion, equity and social justice
2. A deep passion for social justice and dismantling harmful narratives
3. Provide leadership within the campus community, particularly through
increasing awareness of bias, eradicating hate speech, and promoting
civility, respect, justice, and equality for all
Preference shall be given to student leaders who have overcome personal
challenges during the pursuit of their college degree. Examples include but
are not limited to:
1. Financial circumstances
2. First Generation College Student
Students must be in good academic standing to be eligible.

to complete the application. *ALL STEPS* must be completed in order to be
considered so please go through them carefully. ALL Application materials
are due on *Sunday, April 19th, 2026 at 11:59pm*.
Incomplete applications or applications received after the due date will
not be considered for this round.
Four awards up to $1300 each will be awarded to the students who best
demonstrate each of the four criteria above.
Scholarship recipients are scheduled to be notified in May. Please note
that the names of winners may be advertised as recipients of the
scholarship and may be asked to write a thank you letter to the Plattsburgh
College Foundation.
This scholarship is made possible by charitable gifts to the Plattsburgh
College Foundation. The Douglas Skopp Scholarship program is administered
by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
