The CEES Seminar Series presents:
*Frank Pendleton, *Retired Wildlife Biologist - US Fish and Wildlife
Service / GIS Analyst - Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.
*Managing Remote Island Wildlife Refuges and Planning for Offshore Wind*.
Frank Pendleton served as the first Manager of Rose Atoll Marine National
Monument in American Samoa for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from
2011-2014 and as the GIS Analyst for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management
Pacific Region from 2014-2025. For Rose Atoll, he will discuss the biology
of the island, along with the challenges of managing a tiny, remote island
for sea birds, sea turtles, corals and other wildlife. Then he will discuss
the planning process for offshore wind. This will include how wildlife,
archaeology, fishing, shipping, and other issues are factored into finding
the best places for offshore wind farms.
