Revision to Administrative Policy: Title IX Grievance Policy Under 2020
Regulations (2006.1) and Recession of Title IX Grievance Policy under 2024
Regulations (2008.1)

On January 9, 2025, a federal court vacated the 2024 Title IX Final Rule.

Last year SUNY Plattsburgh adopted a revised Title IX Grievance procedure
that took effect August 1, 2024. As a result of last week’s federal court
decision, we are now required to deactivate our 2024 procedure and
reinstate the Title IX Grievance procedure that was in effect from August
14, 2020 until July 31, 2024. A link to the procedure now in effect can be
found here:
https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/administration-finance/policies-procedures/campus-handbook/section-ii-affirmative-action-equal-opportunity/grievance-addressing-formal-complaints-titleix.html

SUNY Plattsburgh is committed to preventing and responding to all forms of
sex discrimination in its programs and activities, including harassment and
sexual violence.

Some complaints of discrimination, harassment, and misconduct that were
previously covered by our 2024 Title IX procedures may now be adjudicated
under other campus policies such as our Student Conduct Manual
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/student-affairs/student-conduct/manual.html>,
the Complaint Procedure for Review of Allegations of Unlawful
Discrimination/Harassment Policy
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/administration-finance/policies-procedures/campus-handbook/section-ii-affirmative-action-equal-opportunity/complaint-of-discrimination-procedure-policy.html>,
and employee disciplinary procedures.

We encourage all members of the SUNY Plattsburgh community to familiarize
themselves with their rights and responsibilities under Title IX as well as
other state laws. Employees should be knowledgeable about their obligations
to connect students and colleagues with available resources and to report
incidents of sex discrimination and harassment to the Title IX Coordinator,
where applicable.

You may direct any questions to Kim Irland, Title IX Coordinator, at
title.ix at plattsburgh.edu.
