*$1000 **Scholarship Opportunity for 4 students!*



The Douglas Skopp Social Justice Scholarship was created to honor the late
Dr. Douglas Richard Skopp. Dr. Douglas Skopp joined the History Department
here at SUNY Plattsburgh in the fall of 1972.



This scholarship seeks to identify and recognize a student that
demonstrates:



   1. Leadership skills in inclusion, equity and social justice
   2. A deep passion for social justice and dismantling harmful narratives
   3. Increasing awareness about the harmful impact of bias, eradicating
   hate speech, and promoting civility, respect, justice, and equality for all
   4. Student leaders who have overcome personal challenges during the
   pursuit of their college degree



In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the student must:



1)    Be enrolled full-time (12 credits or more)

2)    Be in their first, second, or third year

3)    Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher

4)    Complete all steps including *submitting Resume*

Incomplete applications or applications received after the due date will
not be considered for this round.



Four awards in the amount of $1000 each will be awarded to the students who
best demonstrate each of the four criteria above. Scholarship awards will
be applied to the *fall* *2025/spring 2026* semester.



Scholarship recipients are scheduled to be notified in May. Please note
that the names of winners may be advertised as recipients of the
scholarship and may be asked to write a thank you letter to the Plattsburgh
College Foundation.
